IKEA, once renowned for wardrobes and flat pack has been branching out into Smart Home tech. The big difference is their tech has a much lower price point than market leaders.

The latest lines in their Smart Home range are automated blinds; The Kadrilj and The Fyrtur.

The Kadrilj is a standard grey blind, starting at €99. The Fyrtur is a blackout blind – starting at €119.

Both will he battery powered and support Apple HomeKit, Alexa and Google Home. As well as IKEA’S own Tradfri app and gateway.

The European release date was supposed to be February 2019, with April for the the USA.  However today the Swedish retail giant announced there is a delay in the release, until ‘late 2019’.

There was no official reason given for the delay but various reasons have appeared online from factory issues to firmware!

When they do finally go on sale they will be in the standard Ikea blind sizes:

100×195 cm, 120×195 cm, 140×195 cm, 60×195 cm, and 80×195 cm.

As well as being rumoured to connect to existing Ikea blinds!

We have asked IKEA for a comment and will update when we receive one.
