Smarter, at UK start up, is now taking pre-orders of their latest invention FridgeCam.
FridgeCam is a camera this sits inside your fridge, taking a photo every time you open and close your fridge.
It then tracks to see when an item is removed and not replaced, alerting you to replenish it and add it to a shopping list. This will probably be a lucrative integration for them as they probably get a cut via an affiliate deal.
It also sends you notifications when food is about to expire and can even advise you on recipes based on the contents of your fridge! This is pretty impressive stuff, as could really help prevent food waste.
FridgeCam is integrated with IFTTT meaning it can trigger other smart home tech like Phillips Hue Lights. Pretty cool if you can turn your kitchen lights green if the milk is about to go off or red if your out of milk. It also works with Amazon Echo.

It also has GeoLocation reminding you when your near your favourite shop to pick up items you need.
Setup is done via BlinkUp™ a 3rd party SDK (owned by Electric Imp) they have integrated that allows connecting to the internet via a smart phone in seconds. The camera unit is powered by a rechargeable battery.
This all sounds pretty impressive and if it all works as they plan FridgeCam could easily pay for itself, think how many times food has been wasted because you forgot it was there? Not to mention removing the frustration of forgetting milk!
The release date is ‘Spring 2017’ and RRP is £99.99 direct from Smarter
