Ok – 1.2.214 can be paired using TouchLink. I used iConnectHue for this. It’s a pain to do as the bulb needs to be next to the bridge however all GU10s now linked.

Have you managed to update them yet? I bought some the other day and they still show 1.2.214 for me.

I bought 4no WW GU10s at Ikea Reading (England) today. £7 each. Working perfectly with Alexa, notes below.

I don’t have an Ikea or Phillips hub but I have an Amazon Echo Plus (new version). I have one Hue bulb (warm white E27) that is controlled by the Echo Plus via app and voice for on, off and dimming. I have two wireless sockets that are controlled by Alexa via app and voice, using the eWelink app to initially set them up. I use them to control lamps. I also have a Harmony hub that is able to control everything including my TV, home theatre, Amazon Fire, an infra red room fan by Harmony companion remote, Harmony app and Alexa voice (variously, Harmony UK red skill and Yoonomi).

I have the Echo Plus and three Echo Dots in the house. The Echo dots are plugged in, wired audio, to Hifi systems. They work individually and also play music multi-room perfectly. Drop-in and Calling also work on the Echo Plus and Dots.

The four Ikea bulbs are all in one bathroom ceiling fitting and very close together. In a square pattern, almost touching each other.

The Echo Plus only recognised two of the bulbs initially. I moved the Echo Plus closer to the bulbs and it then picked all four up straight away. I didn’t install any Ikea or Hue apps. The Alexa app (PC and android mobile phone) and voice commands were able to control each bulb individually for on, off and dimming.

After finding the bulbs the Echo Plus doesn’t need to stay close to them. The Hue bulb is in a bedroom about 15m from the Echo Plus, the Ikea G10 wws are about 5m from the Echo Plus in the other direction.

I also purchased an Ikea motion sensor.

Adding the four GU10s to an Alexa Group, they are all able to be controlled on, off and dimming at the same time via voice, Alexa app and Harmony remote. Individual control is still possible using the name of each bulb but I set it up to use Bathroom on, Bathroom off and Bathroom 50% (or whatever percent). Very straightforward and all worked first time.

I have now paired the 4 bulbs to the motion sensor, so they can’t be controlled at all for on, off or dimming. That is as expected, my intention was to have them motion controlled anyway in the bathroom. Set for 10 minutes they are doing what I want. Shame I’ve lost the dimming but I don’t plan on dimming the bathroom. Maybe I’ll get a Hue motion sensor and perhaps that would re-enable dimming but it’s not necessary for me, I just want to walk in the bathroom and the lights come on, which they do. If I’m in the bathroom and don’t move for 10 minutes there will be something badly wrong!

Buying these bulbs was an experiment for me, I’ll probably move them to the kitchen (where I need 6no) in due course and then control them by voice.

Note: To pair the bulbs with the Ikea motion sensor I just turned on the power switch then held the pair button on the dimmer whilst virtually touching the bulb I wanted to pair. You must continue to hold the pair button until the bulb in questions flashes and then goes off. Took me a few mins to realise that because I was releasing the pairing button when they flashed.

Hope that helps you!

Unfortunately like most of the others, they’re “up to date” with v1.2.214 and unable to find them with the native hue app.

No update for the GU10 WW as yet, still on 1.2.214. Hopefully it will follow very soon 🙂

According to them, there will be a new firmware release for the GU10 the cheaper warm white bulbs on
November 1.

Hi Jesse, Thanks for the comment – brilliant news to hear they are coming off the shelf with latest firmware! Did you buy the bulb in the UK?

Surprise: they actually did and came with 1.3.002 firmware out of the box. I did need lampfinder (and make them almost touch the bridge) to add them, but they work great since. I do not have an Ikea bridge.

Hi Mike……see my posts above. I’ve successfully updated all my white spectrum bulbs (£12 GU10 ones) but the cheaper warm white (£7 GU10) will not update to the required software level required for them to work with Hue. I believe this is going to be the same for everyone until Ikea release V1.2.217 firmware for the cheaper warm white bulbs.
If you’ve not read back, you will see that you will need bulbs updated to v1.2.217 to work with Hue. You will need an ikea hub and dimmer control to update the white spectrum bulbs

Hi, I’ve successfully updated 18 of the £12 White spectrum GU10 bulbs. These have all very quickly updated to v1.2.217 without issue shortly after I’ve paired them to the Tradfri hub. After the updates, the bulbs were reset and are then visible in Hue.
If it seems to be taking a long time to update the bulbs, turn the lights off at the physical wall switch, power cycle the hub and then turn them back on and it will kick starts the update (I’ve monitored the traffic on my network and can see that this does kick start the update). The bulbs update in sequence if there is more than 1 new one and will take less than 5 mins. When the update is finished, the bulb will go out then back on again.

I’m still having issues with the warm white bulbs. Every Warm white bulb I have E27 and the cheaper £7 warm white GU10 bulbs seem not to want to update past v1.2.214 and are not visible to Hue. I think if may be that there is no update for the warm white bulbs at this time. I will leave the WW GU10’s connected to the Ikea bridge for now and hope for an update soon. It looks like someone else is having the same issues with warm white bulbs further down.
